Pink Tint - for Project QUILTING 14.2
Challenge a very accurate description of my goal to participate in all six Project QUILTING activities in 2023. I squeezed 14.1 in between travel, family and teaching engagements. Much of this week was filled with a trip to the BERNINA Creative Center in Aurora, IL for new Ambassador training. I returned last Friday filled with inspiration from the fabulous team of new ambassadors, inspiration after experimenting with a variety of BERNINA machines and a wealth of knowledge gleaned form my new BERNINA family.
Trish from @quiltchicken selected the @Pantone Color of the Year, Viva Magenta, as this week's theme. The challenge is to create a quilted item using this color, photograph the project, and post it before noon the following Sunday.
Here's my color pull for this project. I’m fortunate to have a huge stash of fabric as there was no time to shop. The colorful fat quarter was purchased on our guild bus trip this past fall and the Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry Rainbow by Benartex was hanging in my stash.
I have a vague idea of what this will become but this will be another crazy week. With a full day Monday, appointments on Tuesday, and a trip to the BERNINA USA Creative Center the remainder of the week….this had to come together quickly.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. My flight to Chicago was abruptly canceled at the last minute. I would miss a bit of the BERNINA Ambassador training but was able to reschedule for an afternoon flight. Extra time this morning allowed me to continue work on my Pantone Color of the Year Pink Tint Project. I needed four square--in-a-square blocks and the fastest, least math-required option was to create four freezer paper pieced blocks.
Thankfully my plane back home landed 30 minutes early soI snatched up this extra time finish the freezer paper pieced corner blocks. With paper piecing they came out EXACTLY the size I needed. Stitched with my BERNINA QE 770, pressed with my new mini Oliso iron and trimmed to size with Quilters Select ruler and rotary cutter.
Ombre borders with square in a square corner blocks were stitched to the squared up fat quarter panel. Precise cutting, accurate stitching and careful pressing kept all seams matched and allowed for perfect points. Time to get this quilted!
Backing, batting and quilt top were quickly loaded on my long arm machine. The ProStitcher had the perfect diamond shaped design (after rotating it 90 degrees) to fit on this panel.
The Pink Tint Art Quilt titled Geometric Colors finished approximately 25” X 25”. Look for this work and others in my Etsy Shop.
An additional views of the completed project which can be used as a wall hanging or table topper.
