Rhythm & Repetition - for Project QUILTING 13.5
Challenge 13.5 of Project QUILTING titled 'RHYTHM & REPETITION' was announced on Sunday. As an art quilter, repetition is one of the design elements that is included in my work but often very subtle way. The project I decided on is WAY out of my usual wheel house with color, technique and design. I’m so grateful to Project QUILTING and their sponsors for pushing me out of my comfort zone. It helps me remain a life long learner.
In my mission to use up stash and clear out orphan blocks, I pulled out these tiny 2-1/2" squares gifted to me from a fellow quilter who is smart enough not to have piles of "I'll use that someday" stuff! After NINE different ideas auditioned and hours arranging and rearranging, I made a decision!
Finally made decisions on this 'RHYTHM & REPETITION' challenge and stitched the sixteen 2-1/2" squares together. The first border was easy to select but then indecision on the second border. This vintage brown print won out over the red and rust version. Headed off to the long arm next.
This tiny quilt looks a bit lost on my Handi Quilter Amara but it's just so much easier and quicker to select a design and let the Pro-Stitcher do the work. I selected a simple crosshatch design stitched with Superior Threads. This week's Project QUILTING challenge is going to finish on time.
Details of the finished project including the machine stitched single-fold binding, crosshatched quilting and corner pockets to hold a small dowel for hanging or lay flat to use as a table topper.
Completed “I’ve Got Rhythm” wall quilt or table topper is available in my Etsy Shop. It finished at 14” X 14”.
