Unboxing Island Batik Ambassador 2021.2
Every day is a good day when Greg, my favorite UPS person, arrives with two giant boxes of goodies. Despite this being my fourth year as an Island Batik Ambassador, this twice-per-year event just never gets old!. All materials are provided to me free of charge by Island Batik and their industry partners Aurifil, Accuquilt, Hobbs and Schmetz in my role as an ambassador.
Unboxing Photos for January 2021 - Island Batik Fabrics
Two generous two yard cuts of fabric to coordinate with the above collection.
This is a bundle of twenty half cuts that I can’t share yet. Watch for the November Island Batik Blog Hop for projects created by ambassadors with this and other collections. A bundle of two generous two yard cuts if coordinates are also included.
These stash builder bundles have four rolls of four fabrics each. Each strip is five inches by the width of fabric which provide a dash of variety when you are looking for the perfect color accent.
This Foundation Bundle is a packet of six 1/2 yard cuts of fabrics always in stock at Island Batik. They include Solids, Basics, Blenders and Neutrals. This batch coordinate with the 2021 spring collection shown above.
This Foundation Bundle is a packet of six 1/2 yard cuts of fabrics always in stock at Island Batik. They include Solids, Basics, Blenders and Neutrals. This batch coordinate with the SURPRISE 2021 summer collection by Kathy Engle titled Twilight Glow.
This generous six yard piece from the Island Batik Foundation collection is perfect for backings, backgrounds or any quilt requiring a lighter neutral. Almond is my favorite neutral because it works as a white in any quilt but adds dimension and interest.
This bundle contains four yard cuts of Island batik solids in white, black and gray. If you haven’t had a chance to try these high thread count luxury fabrics be sure to include them in your next projects. There is a beautiful array of colors to choose from as well.
Product Sponsors - Aurifil, Hobbs, Patterns By Annie and Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 Design
Aurifil included a box of three Color Builder threads with a special purpose. The October Island Batik Challenge is thread painting. Ambassadors will create a threaded painted quilt to support an increased sustainability and positive environmental impact. An endangered species will be highlighted and I was delighted to learn the Red Panda is my endangered critter.
A Corner Pop III ruler from Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 Design to create a spark of interest on the corner of blocks. This will be used in next month’s August Challenge.
A complete kit by Annie.com to create the Open Wide 2.0 zippered bags. The kit includes the pattern, supporting add on video, Island Batik fabric, mesh, zippers, elastic, interfacing and Soft and Stable.to make three bags, one in each size. These will be completed during the September Challenge.
Hobbs included a variety of battings in this shipment. The queen size Heirloom 80/20 Bleached Cotton Batting and a queen sized Fusible Cotton Batting. I have never used this but understand it’s great for keeping all layers smooth when quilting. The Thermore is a favorite of mine for small art quilts and garments. The 25 yard roll of 2-1/4” Fusible Batting Strips save so much time when constructing rugs, bags, bowls and straps.
